Bella
20-month old Bella was born with bilateral hip dysplasia and started wearing a pavlik harness at just 3 days old. Her left hip remained fully dislocated so it was decided that she would need surgery. At 5 months old she underwent a successful closed hip reduction and remained in a spica cast for 3 months. She was cast free at 8 months old and has worn a rhino cruiser part time since. At 20 months Bella is now a confident walker and an active little girl. Bella’s mom, Chantelle said, “Bella is a lively, curious and determined toddler who has not let any of this slow her down.”
Bella has frequent x-rays to check the progress of her hip to determine whether her hips will heal naturally or whether further surgery is required.
