Raven

🐸 Hello HIPpies, today we are very excited to introduce you to our newest HIPpy Ambassador – Raven!

Raven was diagnosed with Developmental Dysplasia of the hip (DDH) right before her first birthday and underwent her first surgery on her second birthday.

👼 Before Raven’s diagnosis, life was quite normal. But she was a late walker, and her parents began to notice that she had a bit of a waddle and she would fall quite often – like she was unsteady.

Raven is now 6 years old and has had two surgeries related to Hip Dysplasia – including the use of a Spica cast post-operation.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 During her treatment, her family understood the importance of maintaining their regular activities for mental and emotional well-being, and continued to spend time outdoors, visit friends and family, purchased special wheelchairs, and even built custom chairs and tables to ensure Raven could participate in all of their family activities.

🧡 Their Syilx (Okanagan) and Carrier community, friends, and family all supported them on their journey – and adopted Raven into their hearts, often praying and sending words of encouragement, and helping their family when needed.

🌟 We’ll share more details of her journey at a later date – but we’ll leave off today by saying that Raven is an absolute Hip Dysplasia warrior in every way, coming out of surgery with a smile, trust, and love. She was always in good spirits and liked the extra attention and care that she received – and she really helped her parents to go through this process in a good way.

💚 We’re so excited to welcome you to the HIPpy family as our newest I’m a HIPpy Ambassador!
