Jared is a #pertheswarrior!

Jared was diagnosed with Legge Calve Perthes disease at 3.5 years.

Before his diagnosis, Jared was a fully active little boy running and jumping everywhere.

🌳 It all began when he tripped over a root on the ground and was in pain, crying for quite some time.

At first Jared’s Mom thought he was tired so she put him to bed. But the following morning when he woke up, he couldn’t walk.

🏥His Mom immediately took him to the hospital, but they were sent home, saying that his pain was likely caused by growing pains, and to bring him back if it persisted for 3-5 days.

However, the next day they were called back, and Jared’s Mom decided to take him to BC Children’s Hospital — where he was referred to Dr. Mulpuri because of his hip pain.

🩺Dr. Mulpuri diagnosed Jared with Perthes disease.

The diagnosis was challenging for Jared because Dr. Mulpuri requested that he refrain from running, jumping, or any other activity that would cause trauma to the hips. Telling a 3.5 year old boy not to run or jump is near impossible!

🙏Luckily, Jared did NOT need to have surgery in order to heal his #hipdisorder. 

Even so, it was tough on Jared’s family because they had to hold him back from doing the things that he loved.
